The Diabo Beach is located between the Arpoador beach and Copacabana Fortress. Its waters are rough and therefore much frequented by surfers. Nearby the beach you can find the “Girl from Ipanema” park. A stretch of beach is part of the military area of the Copacabana Fortress and has restricted access, not permitted to bathers.

Cow Parade

Cow Parade is an international public art exhibit that has been featured in major world cities. Fiberglass sculptures of cows are decorated by local artists, and distributed over the city centre, in public places such as train stations, important avenues, and parks. They often feature artwork and designs specific to local culture, as well as city life and other relevant themes. After the exhibition in the city, which lasts many months, the cows are auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity.

The tram goes into the heart of the district. All you have to do now is enjoy the bohemian lifestyle of Santa Teresa. On Guimarães Sqaure there is a collection of favorite restaurants and bars serving iced beer and good hors d’oeuvres. The tram tracks lead to Largo das Neves, with its lovely old houses dating from the 1850s and the 1860’s Igreja Nossa Senhora das Neves (Church of Our Lady of the Snow), as well as a series of very popular bars. After a serious accident involving one of the trams, the service was suspended and has no date to return to work. The city is working to get the service back to work soon.

Also known as Aterro do Flamengo, the Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes Park is the largest leisure area of Rio de Janeiro. The place has a strong sport tradition. Flamengo Park is the arrival point of marathons, besides being one of the main segments of Rio's Cycling Race. With its 1.2 million m² of lawns, flowering shrubs and trees is one of the loveliest and most important landscaping areas in the city. Running along the shoreline from the Santos Dumont Airport to Botafogo Bay, this park offers a wide array of attractions.During the 2016 Summer Olympics, the park will serve as host to athletics, and road cycling events.

During the 2016 Summer Paralympics, the park will serve as host to track and field, marathon and road cycling events. In the background we see the Sugar Loaf is one of the main postcards of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Besides its beautiful location and popularity as a worshipping place, the Gloria Church played an important role in the imperial period of Brazil, starting with the arrival of D. João VI in 1808. The layout was innovative for the time, and consists of two interwined octagonal prisms, giving the church an almost round, singular appearance. It has only one tower, below which is a kind of porch, also having a admirable limestone doorway.

Leme and Copacabana share the same stretch of Brazilian beach, however the two beaches are very different. Leme tends to be tamer than Copacabana and has more of a family orientated atmosphere. Many young families relax here while their kids play in the sand and surf.
Leme is located towards the north side of Copacabana beach. It's the closest beach to Sugar Loaf Mountain and offers fantastic views of the cable cars as they make their way up and down the mountain.

Also found in Flamengo many flowers as the apricot-monkey (scientific name Aubl Couroupita guianensis., Lecythidaceae), also known by common names monkey-nuts, bowl-a-monkey-ball cannon, macacarecuia, almond of the Andes and Cuito-Bravo, is a species of tree from the Amazon that has round fruits that hang in clusters and blooming flowers, widely used in landscaping and urbanfarms. It has an average height between 8 and 15 meters, berry fruit type, large and round,and its flowers, very fragrant, come directly out of the trunk.

Nossa Senhora da Penha Church

This church is well known for its multitudes of worshippers from virtually all over Brazil and its prime vantage point on a high rocky bluff, making it visible from miles around.

Built in 1635 as a tiny, rustic church by Portuguese sea captain Baltazar de Abreu Cardoso on land of his own. In 1728 the original fraternity became the Venerável Irmandade de N.S da Penha de França (Venerable Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Bluff of France).

Work was done to expand it, especially on the stairway, to make it safer to the pilgrims climbing up this huge stone bluff. It is now object of legend and pilgrimage, with its famous 382 steps cut out of the bare rock. Some penitents climb the steps on their knees.

The church interior conveys simplicity with only one altar in the main chapel, on which stands the statue of the patroness. In the back is the old altar form the original rustic church with the statue of Our Lady of Rosario. The church building has two towers, with a carillon brought over from Portugal.

The church is the center of huge pilgrimages, especially in the month of October, which is devoted to the patroness. There is the Casa dos Romeiros (House of Pilgrims) with a room full of written vows, votive offering, and objects of all sorts.

Nsa Sra da Gloria do Outeiro Church

Ever since 1670, on top of outeiro (or knoll)there had been a small rustic church built by Antonio Caminha on a prime spot as viewed by ships sailing into Guanabara Bay, highlighting Rio de Janeiro's landscape.

Besides its beautiful location and popularity as a worshipping place, the Gloria Church played an important role in the imperial period of Brazil, starting with the arrival of D. João VI in 1808.

Despite its imposing architectural style, the church building also conveys and almost austere simplicity. It has only three altars and three statues. The high altar is occupied by a statue of N.S.da Glória. There are two outstanding lateral pulpits. At the entrance there are two Portuguese limestone fonts from the 18th century.

Between Copacabana Fort and Rua Francisco Otaviano with Avenida Vieira Souto Arpoador is famous for the rock that invades the sea separating Ipanema and Copacabana beach, with one of most beautiful views in Rio: on one side, the Ipanema and Leblon beaches with the Morro Dois Irmãos in the background; on the other, Diabo (Devil´s) and |Copacabana beaches. Besides the view and the beach, Arpoador also has a park with lots of green where Brazilian and international stars present popular shows. The park was baptized the “ Garota de Ipanema” (Girl from Ipanema), in homage to the famous song by Tom Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, “ cariocas” par excellence.

Since the early 50s Lapa has been one of the major references for nightlife in Rio. With its famous cabarets and restaurants, it was then known as the “Montmartre Carioca”, frequented by the cream of the artistic, intellectual, political and diplomatic circles. To this day Lapa throbs with life. City Hall has already restored part of the district, preserving as much as possible of the original architecture from the beginning of the 20th century, which characterizes the place. The Turtle Lake

The Turtle Lake Botanical Garden, an attraction for children and adults who visit the park. Situated opposite the box office and next to theVisitor Center Garden, the lake has 35 turtles, or better, "tiger-water tortoises," who live there. The care of children who observe the animals is enhanced with the installation of railings around the space.

Around the area, which occupies 180m2, there are benches and a stone floor to facilitate the movement of visitors. Within the lake, there are species of aquatic plants. Rounding out the space a tank of sand with palm trees, a fountain and a small interpretive board with pictures and text in English / Portuguese identifying the species.

The Sugar Loaf is surrounded by vegetation characteristically tropical, with vestiges of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) containing native species that have disappeared from other areas of the Brazilian coast. It also boasts rare vegetal species, such as the orchid “laelia lobata” that can only be found in two places on the planet, Sugar Loaf (Pão de Açucar) and Gávea Rock (Pedra da Gávea), both in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian mountain with the greatest number of climbing tracks (up to 1997 there were 38), the Sugar Loaf is visited daily by hundreds of Brazilian and foreign climbers, mountaineers and ecologists.

Corcovado is a mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 710-metre (2,329 ft) granite peak is located in the Tijuca Forest, a national park. It is sometimes confused with nearby Sugarloaf Mountain.

Corcovado hill lies just west of the city center but is wholly within the city limits and visible from great distances. It is known worldwide for the 38-meter (125 ft) statue of Jesus atop its peak, entitled Cristo Redentor or "Christ the Redeemer".
